I must admit, I really, Really, REALLY, despise the US version. It takes all that was cool about the UK-originated version and attempts to put an American spin on the format. The Stig should be different. The hosts should be different. Tanner's a pretty talented driver, but has the personality of a wet-nap. ...then we have the comedy-club reject and a former native of a southern state.
"Big Star, Little Car" ...that's the best the writers could come up with...wow...just, wow. And now Kid Rock...oh joy. Why not nab some American car idols...go get Shelby for an episode...or how about putting some NASCAR drivers in a drifting contest. My 10-year old daughter has more creativity than the US TG-clone writers.
Yes, you still gotta enjoy the driving bits. The Evo tearing through the snow-banks was cool, as was the moonshine challenge but the whole thing is just so ripped off I need to ensure my food has digested before I sit down to an episode. The hosts are just so lacking charisma or affable qualities that it speaks to how little originality there is in the US automotive scene.
***end rant***
